Priest Assignments for April and May 2023

Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, has approved the following priest assignments:

APRIL

Rev. Emmanuel Ekwelum, MSSCC, is now pastor of Holy Trinity Church in Orangeburg, St. Theresa Mission in Springfield, St. Andrew Church in Barnwell and St. Mary Mission in Allendale, with sacramental responsibility at Allendale Correctional Institution, effective April 27.

Rev. Cherian Thalakulam, CMI, has retired and returned to his order in India, effective April 27.

Rev. Prasad Antony, MSSCC, is now pastor of St. Edward Church in North Augusta, effective April 28.

Rev. Kentigern Aririguzo, MSSCC, is now administrator of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Gloverville and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in Edgefield, with sacramental responsibility at federal correctional institutions Edgefield and Trenton, effective April 28.

MAY

Rev. Msgr. William J. Gomes, retired supply priest, has departed the Diocese of Charleston in retirement to New York, effective May 1.

Rev. Filip Wodecki has returned to the diocese and is now a supply priest in the Myrtle Beach Deanery, effective May 1.

Very Rev. Raymond J. Carlo, VF, is appointed administrator pro tem for St. Patrick Church in Charleston, in addition to remaining pastor of St. John the Beloved Church in Summerville, effective May 1.

Rev. Stephen D. Dyas, LC, new to the diocese, is now parochial vicar of St. Mary Magdalene Church in Simpsonville, effective May 4.

Very Rev. Edward W. Fitzgerald, VF, is appointed administrator pro tem of St. Louis Church in Dillon and Church of the Infant Jesus Mission in Marion, in addition to remaining pastor of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Murrells Inlet, effective May 5.

Rev. Andrew J. Fryml, is relieved of his responsibilities as Chaplain to the College of Charleston and Boy Scouts. He is now full-time at Bishop England High School and given permission to pursue advanced studies in education, effective May 27.
