Diocese of Charleston Priest Assignments

Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone made the following assignments for priests in the Diocese of Charleston: 


Msgr. Edward D. Lofton, pastor of St. Theresa the Little Flower Church, retires, effective July 1. 

Father Renaurd West becomes chaplain to the Citadel, effective July 1. 

Father Rafael Ghattas becomes parochial vicar of St. Gregory the Great Church, effective July 2. 

Father Rhett Williams becomes the director of the diocesan Vocations Office and is now pastor of St. Thomas More Church, effective July 15. 

Father Henry Kulah becomes pastor of St. John Church in North Charleston, effective July 15. 

Father Norbert Mendonca becomes pastor of St. Theresa the Little Flower Church in Summerville, effective July 15. 

Father Robert Higgins becomes administrator of St. Patrick Church in Charleston, effective July 15. 

Father Jairo Calderon becomes administrator of St. Mary of the Angels Church in Anderson, effective July 15. 

Father Rodolfo Gonzalez becomes parochial vicar of St. Francis by the Sea and Holy Family on Hilton Head Island, effective July 15. 

Father Raymond J. Carlo, VF, will be administrator pro tem of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in North Charleston, effective July 15.

Father William Frei becomes the parochial vicar of St. Joseph Church in Columbia and chaplain to Cardinal Newman School, September July 15.
