Diocesan Eucharistic Congress

The Diocese of Charleston is hosting its first Eucharistic Congress April 6, 2024! It will be held at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

So, why are we having a Eucharistic Congress and why should I go?

The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith. This Eucharistic Congress is our opportunity as a local Church (a diocese) to kindle or rekindle our zeal and enthusiasm for this gift, which is Christ himself. We not only encounter the witness of the various presenters and speakers that are featured, but also the witness of our fellow Catholics from all parts of South Carolina. In this encounter, we hear the challenge and are called to share that zeal and Good News with everyone placed in our paths. Simply put, when we worship and love the Lord together, he does great things. This is not merely an invitation, it is a call!

Funds for the event are leftover from the diocesan bicentennial event that would have taken place in 2020 but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Keynotes

Most Rev. Joseph Espaillat, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of New York

Dr. Edward Sri, theologian, author and well-known Catholic speaker

Friday, April 5, 2024 — ‘Pop-Up’ Events at Columbia parishes

On Friday evening, each of our Columbia parishes will host an event featuring a top-notch speaker. Participants will have an opportunity to get to know others within our diocesan community. There will be something for everyone! Each pop-up event will be free and open to the public (subject to capacity limitations).

Saturday, April 6, 2024 — Eucharistic Congress

The Diocesan Congress will be an opportunity for the entire diocese to gather around our Lord in the Eucharist. It will feature great speakers in a variety of languages. The event will include Mass with Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, and a eucharistic procession. There will also be opportunities for adoration and for the sacrament of reconciliation. Due to limited capacity at the convention center, this will be a ticketed event. Contact your local parish to request tickets. Please join us as we celebrate our common love for the gift of Christ himself in the Eucharist.

Tickets are available

Tickets have been reserved for churches to distribute to ensure that every parish has an opportunity to send its people. Tickets will be available to the general public in January 2024.
