CHARLESTON—The golf team at Bishop England won its third consecutive Class AA state championship with a 16-stroke victory over Waccamaw at Charleston National Golf Club in Mount Pleasant. The Bishops’ Jamie Wilson also claimed the individual title.
Cardinals clinch two spring titles
COLUMBIA—It came down to a shoot-out, but the Cardinals came away with another soccer championship. The Cardinal Newman boys’ soccer team edged out Porter-Gaud in Charleston 2-1 to claim the South Carolina Independent Schools Association state title. It is their third championship in a row and the fourth in five years.
The school also earned a golf crown as Patrick Talledo ruled the greens to claim the SCISA AAA individual championship.
St. Joe soccer scores a four-peat
GREENVILLE—For the seniors at St. Joseph’s Catholic School, four turned out to be a magical number as the boys’ soccer team won its fourth Class 1A championship in four years — by four goals. The Knights beat the Governor’s School 5-1 to earn the victory.

Bishop England’s Lady Bishops also had a strong showing, and claimed state runners-up titles in lacrosse, golf, and track and field.
Two of the Bishops’ lacrosse players — Emma Pizzo and Rachel Banton — were selected to play for South Carolina in the 2015 U.S. Lacrosse Women’s National Tournament.
At Cardinal Newman, the girls’ soccer team also earned a spot in the state championship. They fought a tough battle on the pitch, falling 2-1 to Pinewood Prep to earn the runner-up title.
