RIDGELAND— Meaghan Lyons and Sam Villalobos from John Paul II churned out top-scoring times at the SCISA State Championship Swim Meet held Oct. 4 at the Augusta Aquatic Center. Meaghan became the 2014-2015 A-AA State Champion in the female 100-yard breaststroke, giving the school its very first state title. Sam was runner-up in the state in the male 100-yard breaststroke. Over 400 swimmers in grades 6-12 competed in the meet. Sam and Meaghan also swam the 200-yard individual medley with Meaghan placing second and Sam fourth. Overall, Meaghan tied for second place in the A-AA female division and earned All-State Status (top 10 in the state) for the second consecutive year

The monks of Mepkin Abbey continued their tradition of displaying dozens of nativity sets at this year’s Crèche Festival. The exhibit featured manger sets made out of oysters, paper, yarn, shells and other mixed medias.
