Columbiettes attend convention
South Carolina Columbiettes sent a delegation to the Supreme Convention Aug. 16-18 in Stamford, Conn.

The party included Paula Griffard, state president, who reported on their activities; Betty Richitelli, past state president; and Gloria Kinney, state secretary. Other state members who attended included: Florence Mucci, supreme director from Auxiliary 5026 in Beaufort, and Thursa Sotak from Aiken. Sotak was elected to the office of supreme advocate during the convention.

Charters were distributed to three new auxiliaries including: Auxiliary 8900 in North Charleston; Auxiliary 7122 in North Myrtle Beach and Auxiliary 5086 in Myrtle Beach.

Five auxiliaries received the Margaret Mary J. Mangan Award that recognizes outstanding programs of service to the Church, parish and community. They were Auxiliary 11910 in Summerville; Auxiliary 6846 in Columbia; Auxiliary 14982 in Loris; Auxiliary 8900 in North Charleston and Auxiliary 9672 in Camden.

The Columbiettes is a Catholic women’s organization made up of affiliated auxiliaries of Knights of Columbus councils.

Eleven profess vows as Dominicans
NASHVILLE —Eleven women made their perpetual profession of the simple vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience as Dominican Sisters of Saint Cecilia Congregation on July 22. Among those making final profession was Sister Mara Grace Gore, O.P., from Lexington, Ky.

She is the daughter of Brad and Valerie Gore who attend the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Charleston, S.C. She is a graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Ky. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary interdisciplinary studies from Aquinas College in Nashville.

Sister Mara Grace is currently assisting the vocation office of the Dominican Sisters.
