Feb. 27-28 conference on healing after divorce

ATLANTA—Divorced and separated Catholics can learn about healing, living the Catholic faith and navigating life after divorce at the Journey of Hope Conference 2010, which will be Feb. 27-28 in Atlanta.

Conference workshops will provide information, facilitate discussion and help attendees apply what they have learned, according to a press release.

Workshop topics include annulments, helping children of divorce, financial solutions, dating and intimacy, forgiveness and healing, and receiving the sacraments.

The conference will also provide a means for clergy and those in ministry to divorced Catholics to better understand how to serve this population of the church.

Father Thomas Williams will be the keynote speaker at the event. He is an author, theologian, and CBS/NBC News analyst. He will speak on his book “Can God Be Trusted?” and about how those who have experienced divorce and feel let down can trust God.

“This conference is the first of its kind to offer the range of educational, spiritual and social offerings for the divorced Catholic,” said Lisa Duffy, president of Journey of Hope Productions, the conference sponsor. “It is a unique opportunity for divorced Catholics to learn how to heal from divorce by more fully living their faith and creating a joyful future.”

Journey of Hope Productions is a developer and publisher of content for divorced and separated Catholics. Journey of Hope programs for divorced Catholics are held throughout the United States. Journey of Hope podcasts, the book “Divorced. Catholic. Now What?” and the DVD “Voices of Hope” can be found at www.divorcedcatholic.com.

Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory of Atlanta will celebrate Mass on Sunday. Having experienced the divorce of his own parents, Archbishop Gregory is particularly sensitive to the needs of divorced Catholics. The sacrament of reconciliation and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will also be available during the conference.

The Journey of Hope Conference 2010 will be held at the Marriott Atlanta North Hotel. Registration is open to separated and divorced people, and those involved in related ministries. To register, call (404) 493-2190 or visit www.journeyofhopeconference.com.
